stories to share #4 and updates

Hi all! Here's your first weekly post. I'm still not sure what day I'll actually be making these, so bare with me, but we'll sort that out soon.

First off, have some stories!

Across the Street - Greg van Eekhout
This was fun and strange and I had a great time with it. Something about the chaos of it really jived with me, the feeling of how busy it was, how it was both just the way this city is, but also so strange for anyone reading it. I love modern fantasy like this. It makes me happy.

Drowned Are We - K. A. Tutin
Oh, this was delightfully creepy. I loved seeing the way this built until we got to see the ending of it. The little bits of description we got of the entity were excellent and I just am so here for this whole story. There's a part of me that wants to read more, to see this happen again and again until we get to see what happens when all the children are gone, but that requires a much bigger wordcount.

I hope you enjoy those. I'll be back with a couple more next week, and maybe I'll drop a few in Bluesky too. I really just want to spread the love of short stories, honestly. It's pretty much why I'm embarking on this whole thing to begin with.

Updates

I have a bunch of short fiction to edit from the past couple of months. I've also got several other things that need revising, but I want to work on these most recent stories first since I have outside feedback to work with.

Since the beginning of the year I've done a lot more writing related work than I have in the last few years and it feels good. I didn't know what would happen when I dove back into all this, but I'm so glad I did. Telling stories feels like coming home, even if I know they may not all be accepted anywhere. Just being able to write and share them with a few people feels good. Of course I'd love them to be published places and I get paid for my efforts, but I'd be doing this whether or not that happened.
