Two Fic Tuesday

Welcome!

Do I have more death stories for you tthis week? Why yes, yes I do. I really, really need to let myself dig into The Deadlands, because I know I'll be reading pretty much everything they put out, I just haven't properly given into that impulse yet.A

Anyway, these two stories are shorter, fun pieces that I loved putting together. I feel like they balance well, and when I saw I'd set them aside, I knew they'd be going into the same post.

Recs

Don’t Leave the Grim Reaper on Read - Julia Leef - Wyldblood
Death is an inevitability, and no matter how fast you run, it's always going to catch you. I found it interesting to watch our character try to escape it. How you saw more and more of her as the story went on, and yes, maybe you might come to look down on her, but you also know that well, she's just another person. Good, bad, undeserving, or the worst thing to have ever happened. We're all going to die, and you can only run so fast.

The Midnight Diyu - Melissa Ren - Factor Four
Along with really being into death themed stories, I love ones about waystations too. This one gave me a bit of both those things as we follow a character who works at a nice little rest stop you find yourself after you die. I loved seeing how the tables were turned here and, once again, we're reminded that death comes for everyone eventually.,

Updates:

Flights of Foundry was this past weekend, and I had a great time! I did my panels and has such lovely conversations with people. It was an all around great experience and one that I'm going to try to do again next year.

Now we're at the end of the month though, and October brings my birthday, so we'll see what weird writing nonsense I get up to for that.

Be well, take care, and I hope you read something lovely this week.
