Two Fic Tuesday
Welcome!
So, we've made it to the end of October. I know this month has been weird for my posting schedule, but I seem to be back on track, which is great. I've really loved being able to share two stories with you all each week.
This time around I've got a couple that feel appropriate for this time of year. We've got themes of death and mourning, and memory, but also reminders of a life that might still be lived. So, maybe not traditionally spooky per se, but things that I resonate with at this time of year.
Recs
Ghosts of Summer - Catherine Tavares - Apex
Even though this takes place in summer, I thought it was appropriate for Halloween week. That sense of magic and mourning feels right for the autumn, and this captured both of those things so well. Granted, I admit I also have a soft spot for this story because I have felt that kind of brutal heat before, but I still feel like this was a wonderful story for this time of year.
The Memory Eater - H. Pueyo - The Dark
This one also felt right for the season. With memory, and death, and identity all playing into this story, I knew it was one I'd be putting forth this week. The feeling of carrying so many lives, but losing your own, or hiding from it, and the final acceptance of who you are and choosing to keep living that much longer all feel like the right kinds of things to share this week.
Be well, take care, and I hope you read something lovely this week.
