Two Fic Tuesday (just a little late this week)
Welcome!
Running a little late today, but this week had already gotten away from me. But I do have stories for you today, so yay for that! This go around, I have a pair of stories that left me smiling and full of warmth. It's the time of the year where things can be hard for some folks, so I wanted to offer up a couple of things to draw a little comfort from.
Recs
The Little Deaths of Autumn - J.A. Prentice - Kaleidotrope
Look, I love everything about this. Stories from non-human points of view, a first person plural narration, and stories of acceptance are all rolled up into one great little tale that I adored. It's just this sweet, sad, weird, and eventually kind story that made me feel warm and at peace when I finished reading it. This is a good one for when you're feeling a little low, or alone.
Sandwiches for the Soul - Michael M. Jones - Factor Four
Oh, this was the sweetest thing! I love anything that has a theme of food (or drinks. Especially drinks) bringing comfort and healing. This was such a perfect version of that story, and it left me with a smile on my face and the desire to make something nice for someone I care about.
Updates:
I head back to Florida on Sunday night. Hopefully I'll have a post for you next week, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm crossing my fingers though.
It's very hard to leave Seattle, but I'm going to get to see my cat and one of my best friends again, so that is at least something that's making me smile.
Be well, take care, and I hope you read something lovely this week.

PS: If you want to find me elsewhere, I'm on Bluesky at @howsweetthewords and I have a Ko-fi and Patreon where I post prompts, more personal/writing updates, micro-fiction, and miscellany. Tiers start at $1, but there is the occasional free post as well.
