Two Fic Tuesday for Sept 15th
Hi, hello and welcome!
I hope you're all doing well this week! Before I get into anything else, I wanted to make a note to say that along with stories, I thought I'd note that I'm going to be at Flights of Foundry this coming weekend! I'll be on some panels, but I'll also just be hanging around all weekend and I highly suggest coming along and seeing what's what.
Anyway, this week I bring you a couple of stories that did some interesting stuff with form. I've always been a fan of people playing around with how they tell their stories and these two gave me so much joy.
Recs
The Professor of Desire Presents - Anneke Schwob - ergot.
Okay, look, this was beautifully odd, and I devoured it. The imagery alone swept me away, but the use of form? It is so good. This whole thing is just put together in a way that I find absolutely amazing and I'm excited to get to shove this one at people.
Mortality Event - Hadiyyah Kuma - SmokeLong Quarterly
I will forever and always love non-human perspectives and this gave me that. The format of this is great, and I truly adored the POV. It really does feel so bird-like and curious in a way I found charming and lovely.
I wish all of you many good stories,
- Vale
PS: If you want to find me elsewhere, I'm on Bluesky at @howsweetthewords and I have a Ko-fi and Patreon where I post prompts, more personal/writing updates, microfiction, and miscellany. Tiers start at $1, but there is the occasional free post as well.
