Two Fic Tuesday for May 12th

Hi, hello and welcome!

This week I'm coming with three stories instead of two! These all have an edge to them that really drew me in and made me want to spread them around. All of them does this in a different way too, but that made me love them all the more.

Recs

Ponyhenge - Faith Allington - Kaleidotrope
This story is sharp and fierce and gorgeous. I loved the language here, as well as the whole feel of it. It's just beautiful and a little wild, with such the right feeling of what young girls can be like sometimes, and I loved it.

The Sacrificials - Andrew Kozma - Flash Fiction Online
This is another beautiful and vicious piece, though in a very different way than the one above. It's fear, and running, and the feeling of having nowhere to go. This is sharp in an inevitable way, and the idea of the Sacrificials as "natural disasters" was fascinating to me.

And a bonus story this week!

And No One to Hear It - Dawn Vogal - Anomaly
Short, sharp and a little sad. I loved this drabble so much. There's just a little bit of eeriness to it, but also something soft and lonely too. I thought this did fantastic work to make you feel something, even though it used so few words to do so.

I wish all of you many good stories,

  • Vale

PS: If you want to find me elsewhere, I'm on Bluesky at @howsweetthewords and I have a Ko-fi and Patreon where I post prompts, more personal/writing updates, microfiction, and miscellany. Tiers start at $1, but there is the occasional free post as well.
